NYS Assembly Candidate Anthony Nicodemo Receives Support of the Westchester-Putnam Central Labor Body

Last night, in an overwhelming vote the delegates of the Westchester-Putnam Central Labor Body voted to recommend New York State Assembly candidate Anthony Nicodemo to the New York State AFL-CIO for endorsement. The vote affirms local labor leader’s support of Nicodemo.

“Union protections have been a cornerstone of my campaign since the beginning. Our country was built on the backs of organized labor and in a post Janus world, our brothers and sisters in labor must be protected at all costs.”

The support of the body adds to a growing list of progressive groups to back Nicodemo. He has been endorsed by the Working Families Party, Run for Something and the New York Progressive Action Network. He is also a Moms Demand Action gun sense candidate.

“Growing up in a union household and serving as a NYSUT local president has allowed me to understand the importance of our unions. My father has been an active member of Teamsters Local 456 for over 40 years. To receive this support alongside leaders like Yonkers Senators Shelley Mayer and Andrea Stewart-Cousins is truly humbling”

The Central Labor Councils, chartered directly by the national AFL-CIO, determine policy on local issues, as well as working closely with the State and National AFL-CIO to carry out Federation priorities. As the voice of working people in the local community, the AFL-CIO Central Labor Council is the heart of the labor movement. By uniting the local community, the Councils play a critical role on local, state and national issues. In political and community action, the Central Labor Councils are “where the action is.”

Westchester-Putnam Working Families Party Announces Support For Anthony Nicodemo for New York State Assembly

Today, the Westchester-Putnam chapter of the Working Families Party announced that they are supporting Anthony Nicodemo in his campaign for State Assembly in the 90th District.

“Anthony embodies all the values of the Working Families Party and we are proud to support his candidacy for state assembly. As a union president and advocate for marginalized communities we know that Anthony will stand up for the interests of the Working Families Party.” said Pat Welsh, WFP Westchester Putnam Chair.

“The Working Families Party embraces the value of true progressivism. Their support is a strong rebuke of establishment politics in Yonkers. As a true progressive I am honored to receive their vote of confidence for the 90th Assembly District race.”

This is the third political organization that has voiced support for the campaign. Earlier this month Nicodemo was endorsed by Run for Something and the Lower Hudson Valley Progressive Action Network. He has also received designation from Moms Demand Action.

“As we continue to run a grassroots campaign, we plan on working together across party lines to create a better Yonkers for all. Investing in our schools, rooting out government corruption, making it easier for people to vote and protecting human rights are all paramount. I sincerely thank the Working Families Party for standing with me to make New York Fair Again.”
